Book Review | THE Bridgerton Series by Julia Quinn

Now I love the Netflix series, including the Princess Charlotte season we had, BUT if you haven’t read the amazing books by Julia Quinn then I would highly recommend them.

I understand that the TV adaptations will always make changes as they are merely “based” on the books, and not bound by following them to the letter, so this is no means a “the books are better than the show” rant as they are both good in their own ways and I enjoy them independantly from each other.

There is more depth to the characters in the books that can rareley be portrayed in a TV show, unless they start adding a voice over with every character’s internal monologue which would never work.

I have actually been through the series twice now, once before watching the first season and again while waiting for season three to begin.

None of the books are over taxing, and would most definately fall in to the catagory of bodice rippers, but there’s nothing wrong with a little bit of spice in your life, right???

If you’ve seen the show then you are going to be missing several of the characters, as they have been created for the show specifically, but that is fine with a large cast in the books to begin with.

I personally can’t wait to see how Benedicts story plays out!

Who’s your favourite character in the books?
